President Rumen Radev Friday met with Yousuf Ahmed Hamed Aljabri, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman in Vienna and accredited to Bulgaria, who handed him a written message on behalf of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, the head of State's press secretariat reported. The message comes against the backdrop of the dynamic events in the Middle East and is an eloquent expression of the attention and interest of the State leadership of the Sultanate of Oman in deepening bilateral ties at all levels with Bulgaria, the press release reads.
During the talks, President Radev expressed gratitude for the personal commitment of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and Oman's key role in the release of the Bulgarian crew members of the hijacked Galaxy Leader, describing this gesture as an example of humanity and active mediation diplomacy.
The meeting confirmed the common will to deepen the bilateral political dialogue and cooperation between Bulgaria and Oman in the fields of energy, economy, tourism, security and education. The importance of the exchange of visits at the highest political level was underlined, as well as the excellent interaction between the institutions of the two countries.
President Radev highlighted the importance of seeking opportunities for sustainable de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East through dialogue and diplomacy. The Bulgarian head of State highly appreciated the mediation efforts and the significant contribution of the Sultanate of Oman in this regard, as well as the commitment of Oman's state leadership to establish a lasting and just peace in this region close to Bulgaria.
