site.btaBulgarian Delegation Led by Justice Minister to Attend Installation of New Abbot of Zograf Monastery in Mount Athos

On May 11, 2025, , a solemn service and installation of the newly elected abbot Hieromonk Gabriel will take place at the cathedral church of the Zograf Monastery in Mount Athos. The ceremony will be attended by the spiritual and administrative leadership of the monastic republic, representatives of the Greek state, as well as abbots and monks from the other Athos monasteries.

The Bulgarian state delegation will be led by Minister of Justice Georgi Georgiev. It will also include Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov, Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov, Minister of Environment and Water Manol Genov and Minister of Youth and Sports Ivan Peshev, said the press centre of the cabinet on Friday.

The event is of exceptional spiritual and cultural importance for Bulgaria, related to the continuity and deep historical ties with the Zograf Holy Monastery, the only entirely Bulgarian center in Mount Athos, the statement said.
