site.btaPlovdiv Wine and Gourmet Festival Begins on May 9

The 11th Wine and Gourmet Festival will be held in Plovdiv between May 9 and May 11. The event will begin on Friday, with a traditional Dionysian procession, accompanied by the Trakia ensemble and led by God Dionysus. the Tourism Council of  Plovdiv and Plovdiv Municipality said.

This year, there will be 56 participants, including 40 winemakers and 16 food and product producers, and 8 new participants in number. The festival welcomes wine and food lovers at 16 locations and emblematic places in the Old Town of Plovdiv.

Festival visitors will have the opportunity to try over 300 types of wines and dozens of gourmet flavours. Wine tasting is carried out with tokens. In front of each festival location there will be an information point where visitors will be able to purchase tokens and tasting sets, which include a branded tasting glass, a leather glass holder, a branded wine bag and a souvenir magnet, made by the OP Social Enterprise for People with Disabilities under Plovdiv Municipality.

This year, the organizers will also introduce Wine and Gourmet Evenings, which will be held in selected Plovdiv restaurants. Pre-prepared combinations of wine and gourmet dishes will be served to the Plovdiv audience and guests of the city. A tasting jury, headed by experts from the University of Food Technology, will hold a competition for the "Most Skillful Combination of Wine and Food". The best flavour combinations will be announced on the festival's Facebook page and on site.

Visitors will also be able to vote and support their favourites in a digital poll for "Favorite White, Red and Rose Wine", as well as for "Favorite Taste". A QR code for the poll will be available in the printed catalog, which will be distributed during the event.

This year, the organizers of the festival will continue to provide scholarships to students majoring in tourism who volunteer during the festival.

The 11th Wine and Gourmet Festival is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture. It is organized by the Tourism Council of Plovdiv and the Municipality of Plovdiv with the active cooperation of the Ancient Plovdiv Municipal Institute and the Plovdiv University of Food Technologies.

The event is financed by the annual tourism development programme of the Municipality of Plovdiv for 2025.
