Two Deputy Foreign Ministers Appointed

Bulgarian caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev has ordered the appointment of Maria Angelieva and Colonel Nevyana Miteva as deputy ministers of foreign affairs, the Government Information Service reported on Friday.

A qualified jurist, Angelieva served as member of the 39th and 40th National Assemblies. She headed the Consular Section of the Bulgarian Embassy in London (July 2014 – August 2020) and, since November 2020, she has been minister plenipotentiary at the Economic and Commercial Section of the same Embassy.

Colonel Nevyana Miteva was in change of international contacts at the office of the Chief of General Staff of the Bulgarian Armed Forces (2007-2009). At the Defence Ministry, she worked as chief expert in the Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Initiatives Division of the Defence Policy Directorate, and since 2017 she has been in charge of the implementation of national and international policies for the application of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda at the Ministry’s Social Policy Directorate. Miteva chaired the NATO Committee on Gender Perspectives (NCGP) between 2015 and 2017.

Tihomir Stoychev and Elena Shekerletova were released as deputy ministers of foreign affairs.
