The Council of Ministers Wednesday created a mechanism for timely changes in the composition of the Central Epizootic Council set up in 2018.

The epizootic situation in Bulgaria has been dynamic in recent years and the Council's role in the organization, coordination and provision of financial resources for the prevention and eradication of communicable diseases is of the utmost importance. Therefore it is essential to have a mechanism for changing its composition in a timely manner if necessary.

The Council is chaired by a deputy prime minister, its deputy chairman is the minister of agriculture, and its secretary is the executive director of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency. The Council includes representatives of the Ministries of Interior, of Defence, of Finance, of Health, of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, of Environment and Water, of Economy and of Agriculture and Food.
