The Bulgarian and Ukrainian ministries of agriculture are starting to work on a joint declaration on mechanisms for response to market disruptions, including sudden price changes, in bilateral trade in sunflower oil, it became clear during a working meeting between Agriculture Minister Yavor Gechev and his Ukrainian counterpart Mykola Solskyi. The main focus of the talks, held Friday in Sofia, was the current situation on the grain market and trade in sunflower oil, the Agriculture Ministry reported.

The agricultural ministers also commented on the European Commission's exceptional protective measure, which affects four agricultural products originating in Ukraine. In this regard, Gechev reported on the decision of the Council of Ministers to lift the national ban on imports of some agricultural products coming from Ukraine and said that the Bulgarian side is closely monitoring the market both in terms of sunflower oil and other agricultural products.

"Bulgaria and Ukraine can work together to find long-term solutions for accelerated transit of agricultural goods towards third countries and propose them to the European Commission," Gechev said.

"I hope that this good dialogue will continue and that the two sides will jointly solve issues that arise in the future," Solskyi said.
