Ten Bulgarian citizens on three fishing vessels were caught poaching turbot and shark in a Romanian exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea, the Romanian Coast Guard said on Friday, cited by Agerpres.

The vessels, together with their crews, fishing gear and fish caught, were escorted to the Constanta military port for further investigation under the coordination of the Prosecutor's Office of the Constanta Court of Appeal. Inspections revealed that the three crews were using unauthorized fishing gear and were fishing during a ban period.

The Bulgarian sailors on board the ships are in good health, the Foreign Ministry in Sofia said to BTA. They are not allowed to leave the vessels, Bulgaria's Ambassador in Romania Radko Vlaykov told Bulgarian National Television. They have water and will be provided with further food, Vlaykov stated.
