New York, September 24 (BTA) - Bulgaria and Egypt will enhance
bilateral cooperation through implementing more joint projects,
Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and his Egyptian
counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi agreed during a Wednesday
meeting held here at UN headquarters, Plevneliev's press centre
said.

The two countries share a common vision for the need to
modernize and attract more investments in key sectors, such as
water resources management, transport infrastructure and energy,
it emerged from the meeting.

Egypt is making legislative changes, which will create an
exceptionally attractive climate for implementing various
business projects, said the Egyptian President. According to
Plevneliev, Bulgaria's experience could be useful for developing
Egypt's transport and energy systems. He noted that there is a
possibility for Egypt to invest in Bulgarian agriculture and
food exports.

Plevneliev voiced Bulgaria's support for the democratic changes
in North Africa and the Middle East. He noted Egypt's progress
in implementing the road map towards transitioning to a
democratic governance and wished that the upcoming parliamentary
elections there are held successfully.

Bulgaria highly values Egypt's stabilizing role in the Middle
East and North Africa, said Plevneliev during the meeting. He
welcomed Egypt's efforts for improving the dialogue between the
State of Israel and the Palestinian Authority. A ceasefire
agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas under Egypt's
mediation. Bulgaria supports the holding of the upcoming
conference in Cairo, during which plans for the restoration of
Gaza will be discussed, the Bulgarian head of state said.

The two presidents agreed that the Islamic State's actions are a
serious threat for international security and that the fight
against terrorism is not just a regional problem but requires
joint efforts by the international community. PK/MY
