Bulgaria of the Citizens Movement Elects Executive Board

Sofia, November 20 (BTA) - At a meeting on Sunday the National Council of the Bulgaria of the Citizens Movement (BCM) elected an Executive Board of the party,
 the BCM said.

The Executive Board includes Dimiter Delchev, Naiden Zelenogorski, Dimiter Tanev, Antoni Trenchev, Boika Marinska, Dimiter Shishkov, Nastimir Ananiev, Bisser Manolov, Daniela Vezieva, Stamen Yanev, Krassimir Gulubov, Nina Borova, Ivan Lambov and Lyudmil Vesselinov.

The BCM will not participate in another government, formed within the framework of the incumbent Parliament, BCM leader Meglena Kuneva told journalists. The party does not support the idea of introducing a majoritarian voting system, Kuneva also said.

Regarding the party subsidies issue, the BCM suggests to set a descending scale depending on the party support.

"We have strong doubts regarding mandatory voting but the issue should be discussed in Parliament," Kuneva said further. The idea of reducing the number of MPs down to 120 should also be subjected to discussion. "First, we need statistical information and mandatory census because the population has dropped by two million since the convening of the Grand National Assembly," the BCM leader also said and recommended to introduce electronic voting in order to make voting of Bulgarians abroad easier.

Zelenogorski said that the drafting of specific bills aimed at changing the election system should be preceded by a public discussion.

According to Kuneva, if the National Assembly continues to work, it should adopt the anticorruption law.

She said further that the purpose is restoring the normal functioning of the Reformist Bloc. In her opinion, the RB should remain an open project. "We will work for its consolidation," Kuneva stated.
