Bulgaria recorded the highest annual increase in prices of fuels and lubricants for personal transport among EU member states in June, according to the latest data published by Eurostat on Wednesday.

Across the EU, prices of fuels and lubricants for personal transport increased by 13.7% year-on-year in June, slowing from 20.7% in May. Bulgaria recorded the largest annual increase at 26%, followed by Lithuania (23.5%), Romania (23.1%) and Finland (22%). The smallest increase was registered in Hungary (2.3%). In Bulgaria, annual price growth eased from 33.9% in May.

On a monthly basis, diesel prices in the EU fell by 6.4% in June, while petrol prices decreased by 4.2%.

Diesel prices declined in all EU member states. The steepest decreases were recorded in Czechia (11.3%), Poland (9.7%) and Bulgaria (9.4%).

Cyprus (0.7%) and Italy (0.5%) were the only EU member states to record month-on-month increases in petrol prices in June. In all other member states, petrol prices declined, with the steepest decreases registered in Sweden (7.8%), Belgium (7%) and Poland (6.6%).
