Antarctic science symposium bringing together Romanian and Bulgarian researchers opened in Constanta, Romania, on Wednesday. The event is being held at the Constanta branch of the National Institute for Research and Development on Marine Geology and Geoecology (GeoEcoMar). Bulgaria's Ambassador to Romania Radko Vlaykov is a special guest at the forum and addressed the participants.
"I attended a similar symposium in Bulgaria. You discuss highly specialized topics that can only truly be explored at events like this. As a representative of the Bulgarian state, I am very pleased to be here. Let me also recall that the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was founded in Braila, and this marks the beginning of the strong ties between the academic and university communities of our two countries," Vlaykov said.
He expressed hope that cooperation would become even more intensive and gain a stronger practical dimension, and wished the participants productive discussions.
GeoEcoMar is a government research and development institution coordinated by Romania's Agency for Science and Innovation. Its main activities focus on research into river-marine systems, particularly the Danube River, the Danube Delta and the Black Sea. The institute is open to cooperation and partnership with research institutes, universities, local and regional authorities, and non-governmental organizations.
