Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova held a meeting with Kosovo's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Glauk Konjufca, on the sidelines of a meeting of foreign ministers of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) in Sofia on Wednesday, the press centre of Petrova's Ministry said.

Petrova reaffirmed Bulgaria’s consistent support for Kosovo’s European integration, stressing that the country can count on Bulgaria’s backing both on its path towards European Union membership and for accession to the Council of Europe.

The ministers noted the excellent political dialogue between Bulgaria and Kosovo and confirmed their readiness to further deepen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Petrova said that a visit at the level of prime ministers following the formation of Kosovo’s next regular government would give fresh momentum to bilateral relations.

At the opening of the SEECP meeting of foreign ministers earlier in the day, Petrova said that "Bulgaria remains fully committed to promoting unity, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring coherence between regional initiatives and European priorities." Sofia will continue to support all efforts that bring the countries closer together, build trust, and deliver tangible benefits for the citizens, she added.

Later on Wednesday, President Iliana Iotova opened the SEECP Summit in Sofia. SEECP brings together 13 countries: Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Kosovo, Moldova, Romania, the Republic of North Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia, Turkiye, Croatia, and Montenegro.
