Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov and French Ambassador to Bulgaria Marie Dumoulin discussed the development of bilateral relations and current topics on the European and international agenda at a meeting, the Council of Ministers said on Facebook on Monday.
During the talks, it was underlined that Bulgaria and France are not just partners but strong allies within the European Union and NATO, the Council of Ministers said.
Among the topics discussed was Bulgaria’s progress in the process of accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Gurov expressed high appreciation for the technical and political support France is providing to Bulgaria in the final phase of this process.
The Prime Minister also informed Ambassador Dumoulin about his participation in the Second Nuclear Energy Summit in Paris, where he met with French President Emmanuel Macron. A key focus of their conversation was the role of nuclear energy in strengthening Europe’s energy sovereignty and security.
The meeting also addressed the war in Ukraine and the need for Europe to continue sending a clear message that support for the country remains a key priority. The situation in the Middle East was also discussed, with emphasis placed on the importance of a unified approach by the European Union.
