In response to a question from BSP - United Left MP Ivan Ivanov asked in Parliament on Friday, caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov reported that the caretaker government continues to make payments to municipalities under the investment programme within the budget extension, with over BGN 69 million paid to 89 municipalities in the last week alone.

Ivanov asked whether, since the caretaker cabinet took office, the caretaker Finance Minister Georgi Klisurski and the leadership of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works had signed documents for payments under the programme and whether notifications had been sent to the Bulgarian Development Bank for transfers to municipalities after February 19, the inauguration of the caretaker cabinet. Ivanov also asked what the caretaker government's policy was regarding these payments, noting that the draft legislation on extending the budget beyond March 31 did not provide for such a possibility.

Gurov said that the programme continues to operate within the extended budget. He added that the BGN 900 million earmarked for 2025 corresponds to about EUR 460 million for this year. Over the past week, payments of BGN 192 million to municipalities have been approved, with the actual amount paid exceeding BGN 69 million to 89 municipalities. The caretaker Prime Minister added that the procedures and documents for the remaining requests for funds are being checked and, if no violations are found, the funds will be paid.

Gurov specified that the data he presented refers to payments made between February 20 and March 3. Work on the remaining requests continues in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.
