In the fourth quarter of 2025, Bulgaria’s unemployment rate stood at 3.2%, down by 0.6 percentage points compared with the fourth quarter of 2024, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) reported on Friday.
NSI data show that unemployment in the fourth quarter of 2024 was 3.8%, down by 0.4 percentage points compared with the fourth quarter of 2023. At the beginning of last year, unemployment was 3.9%, which was 1.1 percentage points lower compared with the first quarter of 2024.
The employment rate for the population aged 15-64 was 70.7%, remaining unchanged compared with the same quarter of 2024. The economic activity rate for the population aged 15-64 was 73.1%, decreasing by 0.5 percentage points compared with the fourth quarter of 2024.
The number of unemployed persons in the fourth quarter of 2025 totalled 95,700, of whom 53,800 (56.2%) were men and 41,900 (43.8%) were women. The unemployment rate was 3.4% among men and 3.0% among women.
