National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan and figures imposed by the status quo are unacceptable as caretaker prime minister, Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) MP Hristo Rastashki told journalists in parliament on Tuesday ahead of a sitting of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee, when asked who would be an acceptable figure for caretaker prime minister.

“Almost all positions have been taken by people who are linked to [MRF – New Beginning Floor Leader] Delyan Peevski and [GERB-UDF Floor Leader] Boyko Borissov. Therefore, these figures are absolutely unacceptable for us, for MECh, and absolutely unacceptable for the people, who until recently were protesting against them,” the MP said.

“The only one we believe is more distanced is [Bulgarian National Bank Deputy Governor] Andrey Gurov,” Rastashki said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Nazaryan met with President Iliana Iotova as part of the constitutional procedure for appointing a caretaker government. “A political figure should not be a caretaker prime minister, because there must be a sense of impartiality,” Raya Nazaryan said after the meeting.
