In a post on X on Monday, President Rumen Radev cabled condolences to the Spanish head of State over the deadly high-speed train crash in Spain on Sunday evening.
"My deepest condolences to King Felipe VI and to the families of the victims of the tragic railway accident in Southern Spain. We stand in solidarity with the Spanish people at this difficult moment. I wish a speedy recovery to those injured," Radev's post reads.
A high-speed train derailed and smashed into another oncoming train near Adamuz in the province of Cordoba, about 360 km south of the capital Madrid, on Sunday evening, Reuters reported. The collision pushed the second train off the tracks and down an embankment, killing at least 39 people, with the number expected to rise as rescue efforts continue. The reasons for the accident are yet to be determined.
