A total of 126 tonnes of waste were collected on Friday, January 16, 2026, from Sofia’s Poduyane and Slatina boroughs, compared to a standard daily norm of 90 tonnes for the two areas combined, the press centre of the Sofia Municipality said on Saturday.

Sofia Municipality said it continues intensive waste-collection operations in the city’s most affected boroughs. Daily work is being carried out with increased capacity, including coordination between the municipal waste management structures, Sofekostroy, and the district administrations, with the aim of stabilizing the situation and normalizing the service for residents, the municipality added.
