Snowboarder Petar Gergyovski said he is ready for the upcoming Snowboard World Cup races in Bansko this Saturday and Sunday, speaking to the Bulgarian Ski Federation on Friday.

The competition is extremely important for the young athlete, who could become the fourth Bulgarian male alpine snowboarder to qualify for the Winter Olympic Games, after Radoslav Yankov, Tervel Zamfirov, and Alexander Krashniak, who have already secured their quotas.

"The mood is great, I feel prepared and I am ready for tomorrow. There is tension, though, it’s always like that when you are competing in front of a home crowd," Gergyovski said.

"The fact that the Olympic quota is so close adds extra pressure, but I know what I have to do. I hope I can show what I am capable of. I am sure there will be a big crowd tomorrow, there always is here. I can invite everyone to come and support us," he added.

Petar Gergyovski competes internationally in disciplines such as parallel giant slalom and parallel slalom. A national team rider with an active FIS competition record, Gergyovski has represented Bulgaria in multiple European and World Cup events, steadily rising through the ranks of competitive snowboarding. Gergyovski first made headlines with a breakthrough performance at the European Junior Alpine Snowboard Cup in Pamporovo, where he claimed first place in the parallel giant slalom.  In January 2026, he continued his upward trajectory by winning the parallel giant slalom at the Alpine Snowboard European Cup in Folgaria, Italy, defeating Italy’s Mike Santuari in the final.
