A Russian drone strike on port infrastructure in Odesa Oblast killed one person, Odesa Oblast Military Administration head Oleh Kiper said on Friday.

Two civilian ships were damaged, a Syrian crew member was killed and another Syrian seafarer was wounded. A bulk carrier flying the Comoros flag was struck while loading soybeans, damaging its stern.

All relevant services were on site, working to manage the aftermath.

Bulgarians in the Odesa region number more than 150,000 and were the third largest population group in Ukraine in 2001, according to the official census. About 50,000 - 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
