A 61-year-old woman and her 71-year-old husband in North Macedonia became parents for the first time following a successful and complex in vitro fertilization procedure at a hospital in Skopje, according to local media reports.

Dr. Organdziski Hospital has described this as an “exceptional medical success” given the parents’ age and the complexity of the process leading up to the pregnancy. The patient underwent uterine reconstruction, and donated eggs were used for the procedure.

The hospital reports that both the mother and the newborn boy are in good health.
