site.btaOutgoing Cabinet Appoints Lawyers for Inclusion in Lists of Arbitrators, Conciliators at ICSID

The Council of Ministers appointed Friday the lawyers Angel Kalaidzhiev, Blagoy Vidin, Georgi Spasov and Lazar Tomov for inclusion in the lists of arbitrators and conciliators at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).

Conciliators and arbitrators are designated under the 1965 Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States, which entered into force for Bulgaria on May 13, 2001. The appointed lawyers meet the Convention’s requirements of high moral character and recognized competence in the field of law, and possess specialized education and proven professional experience in international public law related to the protection of foreign investment, international trade law and international arbitration.

The inclusion of the selected lawyers in the lists will strengthen Bulgaria’s role as a participant in internationally recognized conciliation and arbitration mechanisms under the auspices of the World Bank.
