In November 2025, compared with October 2025, the seasonally adjusted retail trade volume in Bulgaria decreased by 0.4%, Eurostat reported on Friday.
Compared to November 2024, the country's retail sales index grew by 3.1% - the 10th largest annual growth in the EU.
On average, the seasonally adjusted retail trade volume increased by 0.2% in both the euro area and the EU compared to the previous month and increased by 2.3% compared to November 2024.
Monthly Comparison
In the euro area in November 2025, compared with October 2025, the volume of retail trade decreased by 0.2% for food, drinks and tobacco, and by 0.1% for automotive fuel in specialized stores. It increased by 0.4% for non-food products (except automotive fuel).
In the EU, it remained stable for food, drinks, tobacco and automotive fuel in specialized stores, and increased by 0.4% for non-food products.
Annual Comparison
In the euro area in November 2025, compared with November 2024, the volume of retail trade increased by 1.1% for food, drinks, tobacco and automotive fuel in specialized stores, and by 3.5% for non-food products.
In the EU, it increased by 0.8% for food, drinks and tobacco, 2% for automotive fuel in specialized stores, and by 3.6% for non-food products.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest annual increases in the total retail trade volume were recorded in Cyprus (+8.5%), Portugal (+6.5%) and Denmark (+6.2%). Decreases were observed in Romania (-4.6%), Slovakia (-2.8%), Austria (-2.2%) and Luxembourg (-0.1%).
