Romania’s President Nicusor Dan has been stranded at a Paris airport due to heavy snowfall in France. This transpired from an interview he gave to Digi24. The severe weather has claimed the lives of five people in the country and triggered transport disruptions across Europe.
It remains unclear when the head of State will return to Bucharest, as his aircraft is unable to take off because of the adverse weather conditions. Other flights have also been delayed.
Nicusor Dan was scheduled to return to Romania on Tuesday evening, but his Spartan aircraft did not depart due to dense fog in Bucharest.
"We decided not to take off because we would have arrived at 3 or 4 a.m. This kind of situation is unusual for France. It does not normally snow here. We are waiting for the runway to be cleared," Dan said.
He travelled to Paris aboard a Spartan military aircraft to attend a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace.
