site.btaForum Chooses Message for Winter Tourist Season: "Bulgaria - An Accessible Holiday"
"Bulgaria - An Accessible Holiday" is the message from the forum BG TOURISM - WINTER 2025/2026, held in Pamporovo on Saturday, said BTA Director General Kiril Valchev at the end of the discussion. According to him, the topic of accessibility is a leading one for Bulgarian tourism days before the start of the winter season. The introduction of the euro makes Bulgaria more accessible to tourists from the eurozone, Valchev emphasized.
Better accessibility is also linked to the facilities Bulgaria is making for visits from third countries, access to healthcare and information, and Bulgaria's inclusion in the Schengen area a year ago, according to Valchev. On the Feat Day of St Nicholas the Mirakle Maker, December 6, the Director General of BTA recalled the words from one of the prayers to the saint: "Let us pray that he gives us strength when we hesitate and guides us when we seek the way."
The main focus of the forum was the accessibility of Bulgarian mountain tourism in its various aspects - the need to build new ski runs and modern facilities, better access to preventive care through balneology and spa tourism, better road infrastructure to mountain destinations, simplification of procedures for issuing work and tourist visas for visitors from third countries, media access to information and good news from Bulgarian resorts.
The forum was organized by BTA in partnership with the Municipality of Chepelare, the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism (BUBSPA), and the resort of Pamporovo. The event is part of BTA's initiative to host forums twice a year – at the beginning of the summer and winter tourist seasons – to discuss the messages for the presentation of tourism in Bulgaria during the upcoming season with representatives of state and municipal institutions, the tourism business, non-governmental organizations, scientists, and experts.
