On the occasion of International Antarctic Day, the Ecomuseum with aquarium in Ruse will open an exhibition on the flight route of birds on the way to Antarctica on December 1, said Silvia Trifonova from Museum.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 33rd Bulgarian Antarctic Mission (2024 - 2025) and was organized by Senior Assistant Professor Boyan Michev from the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It presents a selection of photos taken during the voyage of Bulgaria's naval research vessel Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii (RSV 421), which trace the chronology of the entire journey. The leading emphasis in the exhibition is on birds due to the ornithological focus of the study.

Currently, Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii (RSV 421) is on its fourth Antarctic expedition, and is expected to reach the Bulgarian Antarctic Base on Livingston Island at the end of December.
