The town of Artsyz in Ukraine's Odesa region was attacked by drones Wednesday night according to a statement made by the Bolhrad Regional State Administration on Facebook on Thursday.

The administration added that enemy shelling had damaged critical infrastructure, administrative offices and repair shops and that no one was injured during the attack.

Due to the night's events, all educational institutions in the city of Artsyz will operate online Thursday, the Artsyz municipality announced on Facebook. Sports competitions planned for the day in the municipality have also been cancelled. 

According to the latest official census in Ukraine, there are over 150,000 Bulgarians in the Odesa region, making them the third largest ethnic group. Around 50,000 to 60,000 Bulgarians reside in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.

Following the administrative-territorial reform of 2020, the Bolhrad district comprises 10 municipalities with a population of 144,377 according to data from 2022. Bulgarians make up over 60% of the total population.
