 Alleged Instigator
 of Revenue Agency Hack
 Sent Back into Custody

August 8 (BTA) - The owner of cyber security company TAD Group, Ivan Todorov, was sent back into custody on Thursday after the Specialized Appellate Court concluded that his alleged part in a massive data breach at the National Revenue Agency (NRA) posed a serious public danger.

Todorov was arrested on July 30 for inciting the hacker attack at the NRA but was later released on a 100,000 leva bail. After that, the prosecution said it had gathered more evidence and urged his remand in custody.

The commercial director of Todorov's company and a 20-year-old employee are also charged in connection with the data breach which affected millions of Bulgarians.

Reacting to Thursday's court ruling, Todorov's lawyer Ina Loulcheva said the magistrates misinterpreted part of the evidence. Besides, they were obviously eager to appease the public.

The prosecution expressed its satisfaction with the ruling, noting that all evidence points to a serious public danger. The ruling is final.

Earlier in the day, Todorov said briefly he did not order the hacking attack. IG/VE
