Krassimir Karakachanov of Patriotic Front: First We Need Programme to Unite Around, Then
 New PM Should be Chosen

Sofia, October 6 (BTA) - Krassimir Karakachanov of the Patriotic
Front told a news conference here Monday that first there
should be a programme around which the formations in the new
Parliament can unite, and then it should be decided who the new
prime minister and ministers will be. He went on to say that for
his coalition the participation in the country's governance is
not an end in itself. "We need a government of national
 salvation," he added.

If the parties continue acting as they have thus far, the
Patriotic Front is not worried and can run in new general
 elections, Karakachanov said.

Valeri Simeonov of the Patriotic Front said that holding more
and more early parliametary elections is not a good option. The
Government should be stable and comprise experts and business
representatives instead of politicians. He explained that his
coalition will organize meetings with all the other Bulgarian
parties which have passed the 4 per cent barrier for entry in
Parliament. In his words, the most important thing that has to
be achieved in the National Assembly is to try to reach a
national consensus for solving society's main problems which can
 no longer be postponed.

Simeonov explained that the Patriotic Front is ready for
dialogue, will not impose conditions for participation in the
state institutions, but will not serve as a crutch to any party.
He recalled that there is only one party with which they will
in no way conduct a dialogue: the Movement for Rights and
Freedoms, which Simeonov described as "one of the ugliest
phenomena of these 25 years of transition".

According to Karakachanov, there are no winners in the October 5
elections given the voter turnout of 48 per cent. He called on
everyone to unite around a decision on the State's saving and
described GERB's result in the elections as a Pyrrhic victory.
In his words, GERB won the support of around 15 per cent of all
 the citizens entitled to vote.

Karakachanov noted Sunday's elections showed that the majority
of the Bulgarian people do not trust the so-called political
class established by the status quo. In his words, this is a
conclusion which the politicians should learn from instead of be
 angry at.

Taking a question, Simeonov noted that the voting in Turkey
needs to be changed: it should be carried out only in the
embassies and consulates. Another proposal aimed at fighting
against vote buying is the introduction of obligatory voting, he
 said.
