Sveti Vlas Mayor Ivan Nikolov and the Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet discussed possibilities of developing tourism and providing a qualified workforce from Vietnam during a meeting here on Monday.
The meeting was also attended by three first secretaries of the Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria, with the delegation having been invited by Veselin Koshev, chair of the Bulgarian Construction and Trade Consortium and the Euro-Asian Association for Business, Culture and Friendship.
Nikolov emphasized that Sveti Vlas is among the fastest developing resorts on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, noting that they are currently implementing numerous construction and infrastructure projects, which creates prerequisites for attracting foreign investments. He pointed out that the shortage of labour is a serious problem not only for Sveti Vlas and Bulgaria, but also for the whole of Europe, and expressed hope that the visit of the Vietnamese delegation to Sveti Vlas will create opportunities for business contacts and attracting investors from the Asian country.
Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet said that this was her second visit to Sveti Vlas and that she was impressed by the pace of development of the resort, especially after 2000. She pointed out that Vietnamese workers are distinguished by their high qualifications in various fields all over the world, and can be a reliable resource for Bulgaria as well. The ambassador pointed out that the ministries of labour of Vietnam and Bulgaria have already signed a memorandum of cooperation, which will facilitate the procedures for issuing work visas for Vietnamese citizens.
