Sofia residents and visitors will be able to explore the work of Bulgarian scientists in Antarctica through the exhibition Antarctic People – Caring for the Earth, on display near the National Palace of Culture from April 17 to May 7, organizers said here on Thursday.

The exhibition focuses on environmental change and the role of society in protecting the planet. It presents the work of Bulgarian researchers in Antarctica through portraits taken on site, highlighting topics such as climate, biodiversity, and natural resources.

Visitors can also access interviews with expedition members by Marina Velikova via QR codes.

Part of the Antarctica in New Dimensions project, the exhibition follows previous editions shown in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, and Bansko. In 2024, it also included watercolours painted with natural materials and recordings from the Ice Continent.

Photographer Marina Velikova and Antarctic expedition leader Christo Pimpirev will speak at the official opening on Earth Day, April 23.
