A Bulgarian-French project, titled "Green Path in Digital Education Programs in Adult Education" focuses on challenges posed by digitization and more specifically in the field of adult education using digital technologies, Aneli Mladenova, coordinator of the project, told BTA.

The project is aimed at energy efficiency and reducing the ecological footprint in the long-term learning process. Its main goal is to support educators and adult learning centres with new knowledge and practical skills focused on energy efficiency in the use of digital technologies, Mladenova added.

The project is implemented under the Small Partnerships in Adult Education Erasmus+ program and is co-financed by the European Union. For the implementation of the project, a "small partnership" was created between training organizations in Bulgaria and France. The coordinator is ITJump Education, France, established in 2021 by Aneli Mladenova. The Bulgarian partners are ITStep Bulgaria and the Institute for Cultural Heritage Foundation.

The duration of the project is 18 months. For its purposes, a survey was conducted among teachers and training centres in Bulgaria and France (315 teachers and 92 employees from training centres). Part of the results of the survey show that 98% of teachers need new knowledge and skills to apply energy efficiency measures in the process of teaching and organizing trainings.

Another conclusion is that 70% of teachers unite around three practical skills that they want to develop and improve: the ability to apply energy-efficient approaches in the teaching process; ability to supplement curricula and incorporate energy-efficient approaches; ability to develop new curricula that incorporate energy-efficient approaches.

The details and conclusions of the study were presented at a seminar in March 2023 in Bulgaria. Details can be found on the project website http://cheminvert.chinstitute.eu/.

The project partners are currently developing a Green Path guide, which should frame a training course to help teachers from learning centres. The manual will include 30 teaching hours.

The final stage of the project envisages the presentation of the Green Path guidebook at conferences in France and Bulgaria.
