The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) National Press Club in Dobrich hosts a local conference on Tuesday as part of the Europe on Balkans: Cohesion Skills project implemented by the Bulgarian News Agency with the support of the European Commission.

The conference focuses on key developments in the European Union’s Cohesion Policy for the 2021–2027 period, while also reflecting on the achievements of the previous programming cycle from 2014 to 2020. A special emphasis will be placed on skills as a driving force for regional development and the contributions of Bulgaria and other Balkan countries to the growth and integration of Europe.

Deputy Regional Governor of Dobrich Zhivko Zhelyazkov, Deputy Mayor of Dobrich Municipality Vladimir Trendafilov, Head of the Dobrich Regional Department of Education Svetlana Vasileva, Head of the Dobrich Regional Information Centre Genoveva Drumeva, Director of Todor Rachinski Professional School of Agriculture in General Toshevo Kristiyana Ivanova, Director of the PG for Transport, Service and Light Industry in Dobrich Eng. Neli Petrova, primary school teacher at Dimitar Talev Secondary School Radostina Borisova, and Head of the Mediation Services Department at the Dobrich Labour Bureau Atanas Yordanov will attend.

With its initiative, BTA aims to provide information to the general public and promote an open dialogue on cohesion policy, local performance, and the implementation of the European Union’s policy priorities.

BTA’s Europe on Balkans: Cohesion Skills project aims to raise public awareness and foster dialogue on the EU’s Cohesion Policy, local achievements, and regional development through education and skills. The project kicked off with a conference in Veliki Preslav in November 2024. The schedule of conferences until the end of September 2025 includes events in the following cities: Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Dobrich, Kazanlak, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Lovech, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pernik, Pleven, Razgrad, Ruse, Samokov, Svishtov, Silistra, Sliven, Smolyan, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Troyan, Targovishte, Haskovo, Shumen, and Yambol. Cross-border conferences will be held in Belgrade, Bosilegrad, Bucharest, Edirne, Thessaloniki, and Skopje.

The project builds on Europe in the Balkans: A Common Future and Europe in Bulgaria: A Common Future, implemented by BTA in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
