An Institute for the Bulgarian Diaspora and Cultural Heritage Abroad has opened at The University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT), the Government Information Service said on Wednesday. The institute was launched at the Rector's request following an Academic Council decision. 

The institute will study the history and culture of Bulgaria's diaspora abroad and explore contemporary challenges faced by these communities, particularly regarding state and civil sector initiatives. It will also engage students from Bulgarian communities in undergraduate and graduate programs, along with postgraduate trainees and doctoral candidates.

The institute aims to promote direct collaboration between government and civil organizations and ULSIT, and to research effective ways to preserve the identity of Bulgarians living abroad.
