A Facebook page dedicated to the culinary heritage of the Bulgarian village of Krynychne (Chushmeliya) in Ukraine has been launched. The page features authentic recipes for traditional Bessarabian Bulgarian dishes, along with detailed preparation techniques passed down through generations.

The initiative aims to preserve and promote the traditional cuisine of Bulgarians in Bessarabia by offering access to recipes associated with local history, customs, and holidays, the page reads. Among the featured recipes so far are dishes such as sarmi (stuffed cabbage leaves), banitsa (traditional pastry), and a variety of meat specialties.

Earlier, Ukrainian television aired a news report about ritual Bulgarian bread in Krynychne that featured stories from the village's master bakers.

Krynychne, located in the Bolhrad district of southern Odesa region on the shores of Lake Yalpuh, was founded in 1813 by 153 Bulgarian families who migrated from the Shumen and Varna regions.
