An exhibition exploring how Bulgarian communities around the world celebrate May 24, the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture, and Slavic Literature, will open on May 22 at the Georgi Rakovski High School in Bolhrad, Ukraine.
The initiative is supported by the Bolhrad high school, the Bessarabian Front foundation, and the Together Around the World association, Oleksandr Baron, photographer, co-founder and editor-in-chief of the Bessarabian Front media project, told the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).
Titled "Together Around the World on May 24", the exhibition will be part of the festive programme, which also includes a visit to the Church of Holy Transfiguration, a student procession, and a concert in the high school.
The exhibition features 18 panels capturing the emotions of students from Bulgarian schools around the world as they celebrate May 24. It opens with the question: "Did you know that there are 400 Bulgarian schools around the world, with more than 20,000 children?"
Visitors will be invited to step into a different world and see Bulgaria through a different lens. Bulgarians in Australia are the first to celebrate May 24, followed by those in Europe and America, a press release about the event said. “The alphabet created by our ancestors proved to be timeless. It has stood the test of time for more than 1,150 years. The Bulgarian alphabet continues to conquer new territories thanks to Bulgarian schools around the world and this exhibition is dedicated to them," the press release added.
The exhibition will be open to the public until May 30, Snezhana Skoric, principal of the Georgi Rakovski High School in Bolhrad, told BTA.
