The Olimpii Panov and Ivan Vazov Ivan Lyceums in Taraclia, Moldova, will receive new all-in-one computers and interactive smart boards as part of a programme for digital innovations in Moldova’s educational system implemented by UNICEF in partnership with the Moldovan Education and Science Ministry. Both lyceums have enrolled some 450 children each.

As part of this programme, 70 schools across the country, including educational institutions in Taraclia – where the Bulgarian minority in Moldova is concentrated - will be equipped with modern classroom technology. These resources are aimed at enhancing the student learning experience, strengthening national identity, and promoting inclusivity in the educational process, the Ministry said.

The innovations that will be implemented in Taraclia and other schools will support the creation of a modern and interactive learning space that will foster skills needed for the future.

Located in South Moldova, Taraclia District comprises 26 settlements, including the city of Taraclia and the town of Tvardita. According to the 2014 census, the district has a population of about 40,000 people, 66% of whom identify as ethnic Bulgarians. The district borders the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, Cahul District, and Ukraine’s Odesa region.
