A photo exhibition titled Bulgaria from a Bird's-Eye View will be on view in the German city of Jena from October 17 until the end of 2024, with visiting hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the L. bulgaricus Jena e. V. association said on Facebook.

The exhibition will be held with the assistance of the State Institute for Culture of Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry as part of the 7th Bulgarian Cultural Days in Jena organized by L. bulgaricus Jena e. V. and financed by the State Chancellery of Thuringia, the association added.

Bulgaria from a Bird's-Eye View presents a selection of 25 large-format photographs by Alexander Ivanov, revealing the beauty of Bulgaria's historical landmarks and sights.

"Alexander Ivanov's photographs offer an authentic visual journey through awe-inspiring aerial shots captured by the artist during his long powered hang glider flights over different parts of Bulgaria. For 17 years and over 500 flying hours, he managed to capture the beauty of Bulgaria from above," the State Institute for Culture said on its website.

L. bulgaricus Jena e. V. organizes annual cultural events that span one to two months. These events cover five key themes: folklore performances, classical concerts, exhibitions, readings, films, and theatre, Evgenia Karadineva Marx, a member of the association, told BTA.
In November 2023, she elaborated further: "It all started with a small teaser put together by a group of Bulgarians, and now, six years later, we have an officially registered Bulgarian-German association in Jena - a small but important city known for its contributions to optics and medicine". Karadineva Marx noted that there is a well-integrated Bulgarian community in the city and the region, adding that the organization's goal is to spread Bulgarian culture.
