site.bta"Eastern Western" to Screen in Chicago
A screening of the feature film Eastern Western, directed and written by Bulgarian-born filmmakers Biliana Grozdanova and Marina Grozdanova, will be shown March 14 at the Bulgarica Cultural Center, the centre announced on its Facebook page.
The film starts at 6:00 p.m. and will be followed by an open discussion with actor-producer Igor Galijasevic and associate producer Jenayla Galijasevic. A second screening is scheduled for Sunday, March 15, also at 6:00 p.m. The events are organised by Bulgarica Kinomania and El Jinete Films.
Eastern Western tells the story of Igor - a recent immigrant and widower, who struggles to raise his young son in the American West and embarks on a journey toward California with an American cowboy named Duncan. The cast includes acting roles by Igor Galijasevic, Leonardo Galijasevic, Duncan Vezain and others.
Presented at several international film festivals, including the Sofia International Film Festival, the film explores themes of immigration, identity and cross‑cultural bonds.
Biliana and Marina Grozdanova have lived and worked internationally as filmmakers, with roots in Bulgaria and careers in the US. They began in documentary cinema and have continued with narrative projects, including their first fiction feature Eastern Western. In interviews with BTA, the sisters also discussed their next project, New Dawn Rising, a neo‑western shot in Montana.
