site.btaProf. Pimpirev: Geographical Object in Antarctica to Be Named "Sevlievo"
A geographical object with the name Sevlievo will appear on the map of Antarctica, Bulgarian Antarctic Institute Head Prof. Christo Pimpirev said in Sevlievo (Central Bulgaria) on Friday at the presentation of the exhibition "A View from the Other Side of the World" and the book The Antarctic Hitchhiker.
Sevlievo Mayor Ivan Ivanov noted that the exhibition presents unique aspects from the flora and fauna of Antarctica’s nature, which very different from the one in Bulgaria.
"You will see Antarctica in its romantic years. The book is largely a documentary. More than 250 photographs are included in the publication - both taken by me and from the archives of the institute," said the book’s author Iglika Trifonova.
The exhibition is part of the Educational Programme of the National Centre for Polar Studies at the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. The programme is aimed at primary and secondary school students.
