272 New Cases of COVID-19
in Bulgaria, Positivity Rate
at 4.28%


Sofia, August 16 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases
in Bulgaria reached 433,234, after 6,358 tests identified 272
new infections on Sunday, August 15, according to data posted on
the national coronavirus information platform at
https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate for the day
stood at 4.28 per cent.

The largest number of new cases was recorded in Sofia City (83),
followed by the regions of Burgas (33), Varna (29), Russe (25)
and Plovdiv (19). Two regions, Kardjali and Smolyan, have no new
cases.

Five COVID-19 fatalities were registered in the country on
Sunday, bringing the death toll to 18,344. Another 178 persons
recovered from the disease in 24 hours, and the total number of
recoveries since the start of the pandemic is 400,156.

There are 14,734 active cases. Hospitalized patients number
1,548, including 141 in intensive care.

The COVID-19 cases confirmed among medical staff so far number
13,554, including 3,882 doctors, 4,585 nurses and 2,270
orderlies.

Sunday saw 2,186 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered nationwide,
adding up to a total of 2,154,824 shots given so far. A total
of 1,073,188 persons have completed the vaccination cycle, i. e.
