New Rules for Visiting
Public Places Considered
as Anti-COVID-19 Measure

Sofia, October 8 (BTA) - All establishments will be able to work at 100 per cent capacity and without a time limit if customers provide a vaccination certificate, official document for recovery from COVID-19, PCR test or rapid antigen test, said the Bulgarian Association of Establishments. Rapid tests will be covered by the State.

The proposal was made by the caretaker government during a meeting of the tourism industry with caretaker Health Minister Stoycho Katsarov, caretaker Tourism Minister Stela Baltova, Chief State Health Inspector Angel Kunchev and other experts. The industry also proposed adding an antibody test to the measures, but this has not been accepted. This is expected to take effect within three weeks.

The Association clarified that these rules will apply to all sectors of public life in which there is a gathering of people. This will replace the closure of establishments without compensation, and will apply only when the state is in the "red "zone.

Kunchev confirmed to BTA that such a meeting had taken place. He added that these rules will also apply to staff. At the moment, more and more areas are entering the "dark red" zone, but in two or three weeks a probable drop in the level of morbidity is expected, he added. In response to a question about how children will visit public places, Kunchev said that at the moment this issue is not on the agenda, but if they have reached the vaccination age (12 years), it is possible to consider the same requirements for them as well.
