Last night, 148 people were evacuated from Tel Aviv with carefully planned actions by the Bulgarian state, diplomats in Sofia and on the spot, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov announced at the beginning of the government meeting on Wednesday.
“A total of 89 are Bulgarians, 41 are Romanian citizens, and among these people there are Belgians, Slovaks, Kosovars, Albanians, Finns, US citizens and German citizens,” the Prime Minister explained.
Zhelyazkov thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bulgarian diplomats, Bulgarian services, as well as Captain Ianko Ivanov and his company GullivAir, which carried out the flight.
The plane with the evacuated citizens landed at Sofia Airport at around 2:30 am on Wednesday morning after a flight from Egypt. They were welcomed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev. The group was successfully evacuated from Israeli territory by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the assistance of the Bulgarian Embassy in Tel Aviv.
