The monument to the famous Bulgarian revolutionary was unveiled on December 2, 2004, to mark the 160th anniversary of his birth. It is located on Rome’s Janiculum Hill - alongside the monument to Giuseppe Garibaldi and other prominent Italian freedom fighters.
In close proximity to the monument, there is a commemorative plaque with the inscription: "In memory of the Bulgarian Garibaldians who, with selflessness and heroism, fought for the freedom, unity, and independence of Italy. From a grateful Italy."
The monument was created by Professor Valentin Starchev, a prominent Bulgarian sculptor, best known for his monumental sculptures and significant contributions across various genres of visual art.
The Bulgarian Prime Minister is in the Vatican and Rome on the eve of May 24, the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture, and Slavic Literature.
