site.btaPresident Radev Says in Tokyo Bulgaria Offers Many Business Opportunities in High Technology

Bulgaria is known in Japan for its yogurt and its Rose Valley, but today it offers many business opportunities in high technology, President Rumen Radev said during a bilateral business forum in Tokyo on Tuesday. The event was organized by the Bulgarian Embassy in Tokyo and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). It was opened by JETRO President Susumu Kataoka.

Radev said: “I am proud to be in Japan, your beautiful country, which is respected in Bulgaria not only for your unique culture and tradition but also for your major achievements in the economy, science and technology. We are here not just to look for trade opportunities – anyone can do trade. We are here to seek partners and friends to build successful cooperation in various domains of shared interest. I believe that several prerequisites are necessary to build such a fruitful partnership: political support, shared values, proven successful experience and favourable business conditions in both Bulgaria and Japan.” The President is convinced that all these prerequisites exist.

He stressed the importance of political will and support for developing joint business and expanding into third markets. He noted that the people of Bulgaria and Japan have a longstanding friendship, mutual respect and trust.

Radev assured the Japanese participants in the business forum that Bulgaria offers good conditions for investments, and its gateway location provides good opportunities for logistics and transport. He described Bulgaria as the IT hub of Eastern Europe, saying that many IT experts are concentrated in the capital Sofia. Many companies in Bulgaria achieve remarkable results in high technology, he added.

Radev invited the Japanese business executives to visit Bulgaria. He promised that the Presidency will receive the next business delegation from Japan, which can come to meet with Bulgarian businesspeople. He said Japanese investments are more than just resources; they are a model for successful business.
