President Rumen Radev Friday is arrived in Osaka on Saturday, starting his official visit to Japan from May 18 to 21. 

He will visit the EXPO 2025 in Osaka and hold top-level meetings in Tokyo. Radev’s delegation will include representatives of Bulgarian companies and organizations with activities in industry, high technology, science, innovation and the automotive sector. The President will also be accompanied by his wife, Desislava Radeva.

In Osaka, the Head of State will take part in the official ceremony on Bulgaria Day at EXPO 2025 (May 18), where 165 countries and regions and 9 international organizations are presenting their cultures, ideas and innovations in about 180 pavilions. The central theme of the current edition of the international event is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, with interactive exhibitions, demonstrations of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics, presentations of sustainable and innovative solutions in the fields of architecture, energy and healthcare, smart city exhibitions and more. The forum opened in April and will run until October, with nearly 30 million people expected to attend.

On Sunday, May 18, when Bulgaria Day at EXPO 2025 is celebrated, the April issue of BTA's LIK magazine on the topic "Bulgaria and the World Expos" will be presented. The magazine has been published in Japanese and English. The edition will be presented via video link with the Bulgarian pavilion in Osaka. The event will be held simultaneously in the MaxiM hall of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) in Sofia. The presentation will also include 40 of the agency's permanent national press clubs in the country and abroad. 

The President will visit the Bulgarian Pavilion at EXPO 2025, which showcases Bulgaria's scientific, economic and tourism potential.

The head of State will have an audience with Emperor Naruhito in Tokyo and will sign with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba a Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Japan.

The President's programme for his visit to Japan includes participation in an economic seminar organized by the Bulgarian Embassy in Japan and the Japan External Trade Organization JETRO, meetings with the management of JETRO, the Japanese technology company Toshiba, the Japanese Business Federation Keidanren and Sumitomu Mitsui Bank.

Within the framework of his visit, he will also visit Japan's Hyakuri Air Base and the research centre of Japan's largest scientific organisation RIKEN.

During his visit, the head of State will deliver a lecture on bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Japan at Waseda University.
