Outgoing Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and outgoing Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev held a meeting with the Board of Peace’s High Representative for the Gaza Strip, Nickolay Mladenov, on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference, the outgoing Cabinet’s press centre said on Friday.
During the talks, the current security dynamics in the Middle East were discussed, with a focus on the humanitarian and political situation in Gaza. The parties exchanged views on the need for a sustainable ceasefire, ensuring access to humanitarian aid and creating conditions for long-term stabilization.
Special attention was given to the opportunities for Bulgaria to become actively involved in the process of Gaza’s reconstruction — both through expert and technical assistance and through participation in international coordination mechanisms and donor initiatives.
The High Representative briefed the Bulgarian side on expected developments related to the implementation of the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan for the reconstruction of Gaza, outlining key priorities, upcoming steps and the role of international partners in the process.
Zhelyazkov is taking part in the 62nd Munich Security Conference, which brings together nearly 50 heads of state and government to review foreign policy and security challenges.
