site.btaPM Says Bulgaria Supports Lebanon's Pursuit of Peace, Security and Sustainable Development

Meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said Bulgaria highly appreciates his efforts and the Lebanese government's resolute steps towards restoring political stability, the government information service said on Monday. Aoun paid an official visit to Bulgaria on Monday.

Zhelyazkov welcomed the strong commitment of Lebanon's new leadership to strengthening state institutions and achieving economic recovery in an extremely complex regional context. As an EU Member State, Bulgaria remains committed to supporting Lebanon's pursuit of peace, security and sustainable development.

Zhelyazkov expressed confidence that President Aoun's current visit would give new impetus to cooperation between Bulgaria and Lebanon. "Your visit is a clear sign of the will of both countries to step up political dialogue and elevate bilateral relations to a new, higher level," the Prime Minister said. He highlighted the opportunities for fruitful cooperation in economy, education, culture, tourism and security.

During the meeting at the Council of Ministers, emphasis was placed on the long-standing friendship between the two countries, based on mutual respect and trust. The 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, to be marked in 2026, stands as further evidence of these close ties.
