The Bulgarian national teams experienced mixed emotions in the sixth round of the European Team Chess Championship in Batumi. In the men's competition, the Bulgarian team achieved a 2.5-1.5 victory over Switzerland. In the women's competition, the Bulgarian chess players suffered their third consecutive defeat, losing 1-3 to Romania.

In the men's competition, Radoslav Dimitrov checkmated Noah Fecker on the fourth board on the 93rd move. The other three games in the match ended in draws. The Bulgarian team now has 7 match points and is in 13th place in the provisional standings. The leader in the standings with 11 match points is the Ukrainian team, followed by the Netherlands with 10 and Azerbaijan with 9 match points.

In the women's competition, the defeat left Bulgaria in 15th place in the standings with 6 match points. Poland leads with 12 match points, ahead of Ukraine and Romania with 9 match points each.

The seventh round matches will be played on October 12. The tournament ends on October 14.
