Bulgarian boxer Rami Kiwan claimed a silver medal at the World Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan.

In the final of the men’s 75 kg category on Sunday, the European champion was defeated by home favourite Sabirzhan Akkalykov, the reigning U22 world champion.

This marks Kiwan’s second silver medal from a World Cup event, following his podium finish in Warsaw a month ago.

The tournament in Astana was the last major competition before the World Championships in Liverpool this September. Bulgaria’s national team leaves Kazakhstan with two medals, as Yasen Radev also earned bronze in the 55 kg category.
